After coming out of the AstroDome Planetarium, many students ask me what their Sun Sign is, even though I always tell them that horoscopes are just a lot of malarkey! So, for all those students out there who are wondering about their Sun Sign, you can download the document that appears below and use it to determine your Sun Sign.

Did you know that the traditional dates associated with each Sun Sign have changed quite a bit over the last few thousand years? It's true! This has occurred because the Earth wobbles on its axis, once every 26 000 years, much like a top or a gyroscope wobbles around. This results not only in a new North Star every few thousand years, but it also means the traditional dates associated with the Sun Signs, which were established thousands of years ago, no longer correspond to the actual dates. It has even resulted in a new zodiac constellation, called Ophiuchus.

Astronomers refer to Ophiuchus as the 13th zodiac constellation.​ However, astrologers refuse to acknowledge Ophiuchus as a zodiac constellation. According to astronomers, a zodiac constellation is any constellation that the Sun appears to pass through over the course of the year and since the Sun passes through Ophiuchus each year from November 30 to December 17, that makes Ophiuchus a zodiac constellation.

It is interesting to note that the traditional dates for the Sun Signs and the actual dates for the Sun Signs are so out of sync now that they only agree with each other 45 days per year. That means more than 87% of us were actually born under a constellation that is different than the traditional Sun Sign we commonly read and hear about.
